Are you using Windows?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No using a Mac - Nothing available via System preferences and the printer screen just advises me to switch off
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 10 months ago.

Remove your printer and then again set it up

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Removed and re set -tried to access printer screen to do a clean but same sound was emitted followed by -Switch off

How old is the printer?
Open the printer's door as if to change the ink, does the carriage move over properly?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Three years
No carriage does not move -I suspect that is were the problem is

Open printer so that the cartridge housing is accessible (flip the scanner housing up). Turn printer off.
While printer is off, gently slide cartridge housing to the left about halfway.

Turn printer on. After cartridge housing moves all the way to the right (which it will do on startup), gently push up and back on the housing and continue pressing/gently jiggling as the housing tries to free itself.

Eventually, the housing will snap back to the left which will stop tripping the error message. It can take quite a few tries.
