Hi Beth. Welcome to justanswer.

Remove the memory card and turn on your camer. Now check if you can see any image in your camera.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I cannot it just says "no card in camera"
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 10 months ago.

Yes because Canon does not put internal memory in their cameras. So there is no way to retrieve images as there are no images saved without a memory card

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I read that there was a buffer where images were saved before being trasnferred to a card but there was no direct access
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 10 months ago.

The buffer is just a temporary memory where data is stored until it is written to the non volatile memory (memory card). Once the data is written to the card, the buffer clears itself

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Could the images still be there as the data hasn't been written to a card yet?
Expert:  nathan_mills replied 10 months ago.

Sorry Beth. There is no way to retrieve data from buffer whether it is a camera, computer or any other device. The images which are shown once you connect the camera to the computer, are the only ones present in the camera

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
how annoying, thank you anyway
