No, we were set up with Talk Talk, we had POP set as pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.talktalk.net this no longer works since we moved over to BT

NO it has been set from pop . orangehome . co . uk and smtp . talktalk . net (again remove the spaces) this was set up as we still used Orange and Talk talk together
I see - You were using pop.orangehome.co.uk to receive emails as that is what pop does, and smtp for talktalk to send emails.
Yes, that is correct
Your pop will stay same only SMTP will change to BT's smtp so you can send mails using BT's smtp and receive mails using pop for orange.
BT's smtp is smtp.btconnect.com

Your username is your BT's email address and password is your BT's password

You will need to change SMTP only in Windows Live Mail

Right Click on the account in Windows Live Mail
then Select Servers Tab
In the outgoing mail smtp: smtp.btconnect.com
Place a check on My Server Requires Authentication at the bottom
Then Click on Settings
Place a Check on Log on Using and type the BT email address and password.
What do I type I the General tab for Name and lower down e-mail address
Leave that as it is
Click on the Servers Tab

Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.btconnect.com
Next, Under Outgoing Mail Server place a check on My Server Requires Authentication

Place a check on Log on using, and enter your BT Email Address and Password
OK, so far so good, do I tick the box for "Remember Password" ?
And click on OK ?

Correct, then you should be back to the normal screen
Receive email will not be a concern, the concern is sending emails. So can you try and send an email to a different address of yours or your own email address to see if it works.
This may or may not work because BT has a special service called Mail Relay where they allow use of their mail servers with third party domains and that is for business accounts. If this does not works, then we will need to see if you can usee freeserves own smtp.
No, none of those workd, still cant send or receive e-mails

None at all, If I click on send & Receive nothing happens

Can you click on the Home Tab
Then to the right on top, there will be a button (Work Offline / Go Online)
I have seen error messages before for example when working off line or the set up is not correct but I'm getting no error messages at all

That means, we cannot use BT's SMTP with this email address. So we will need to check if we can use freeserves on smtp
Can you go back to Properties and Click on the Server Tab

Is your account still valid with orange is it terminated?
It's still valid with Orange as in an emergency we can access e-mails via an Orange Web site, not really usueful but handy if we are away from our main desktop pc

Can you go back to properties, server tab and change outgoing (smtp) to smtp.freeserve.co.uk
Make sure that this server requires authentication is unchecked.
Apply, OK and re-try.
WE are getting closer, we have now received all our e-mails from the switch over to BT but still cannot send or see any sent e-mails this error message is still active

Nothing is happening with send & Receive, let me try another e mail account via yahoo, give me a minute
We need to test the sending end, receive is working fine. Can you compose a email from windows live mail and send it to one of your other addresses
If the sending is successful, then you should receive email to your other account that is sent from windows live mail account.
Yes, that was received in the Orange account but not on Windows Live Mail

I sent two e-mails from Orange jim @ raven51 . freeserve . co . uk to the same e-mail address and one from Customer @ yahoo .co .uk (Again just remove the spaces Both were received but not on Windows live mail
Can you exit out of online webmail account
Only use Windows Live Mail to test

OK, done that, also tried Send & Receive Receivng but cannot see sent messages and also go this error message

I can see some progress, can you go to Properties Again, Server Tab, place a check on My server requires authentication, Click on Settings, and replace bt username / password with freeserver's username (email) and password, click ok, apply, ok and re-try.

What about changing the Port 587 back to 25
No can't receive anything now at all
This appears to be a problem with orange, changing the port to 587 did work for a feww.
I am having to go now can this be continue later as I this still not been resolved?
No problem - I will help you try a few more things to troubleshoot this problem but this is an issue with orange.
