Hello, I am having trouble with my hotmail sent box. For some

Resolved Question:

Hello, I am having trouble with my hotmail sent box. For some reason the sent items are reproducing by the minute. Over a space of a few day I have 629 pages of sent items!! I have taken the time to empty the sent box, which takes an age only to find them all back there a day later. Any solution on how to resolve this and get back to normality

Customer:

Hello Jerry

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

I would like to help you, please let me know when you are ready

Customer:

Yes I am ready. By the way, my name is Lorraine

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

hello Lorraine, are you checking your emails by going to hotmail.com on web?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

(or, are you using programs like outlook, thunderbird etc?)

Customer:

Oh, I think I am checking them by going to msn.com - I think that is outlook on the web. I also have them on my smart phone.

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

problem is occuring because of your smart phone i think

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

because sent items in your smartphone is stored in your phone memory, and everytime your smartphone connects to server and brings them back

Customer:

Oh no, It is so important that I can pick up mail on my phone as they are business. How can I resolve this. Everything was ok until a few weeks ago when I noticed that the sent box was multipling by the thousands!!

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

are you using iphone or windows phone?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

or blackberry?

Customer:

But why are there thousands in my sent box when I only sent up to 25 a day. No I am using a samsung s3

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

this is a common problem with samsung

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

samsung is using imap by default (to connect to mail server)

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

you need to change it to POP

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

fix:

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

can you delete your hotmail from your samsung, and add it again, but this time use POP

Customer:

How do I do that?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

can you check your email settings in samsung

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

is it saying you are using imap or pop?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

(mail server)

Customer:

Where do I look?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

email settings

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.

  2. Scroll to Email, then tap on it.

  3. Tap the Menu key.

  4. On pop up menu select Settings.

Customer:

Sorry on phone or computer?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

phone (samsung)

Customer:

Yes done that. It now shows my two e mail accounts

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

is there an option that allows you to remove your hotmail from the phone? so we can add it again

Customer:

no, but there is oncoming and outgoing server options in the server settings. Would that be any use?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

is it imap? (do you see "IMAP" somewhere?)

Customer:

Yes Imap in the incoming and smtp in the outgoing... both followed my outlook.com

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

it should be pop

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

can you delete the mail account ?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

is there a remove or delete option?

Customer:

Ok I how would I change that?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

unfortunately we cannot change it technically

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

we need to remove your account, and re-add

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

with option POP

Customer:

Yes, I can see how to delete now. Shall I do it?

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

yes

Customer:

ok

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

when done, please let me know

Customer:

Yes account has now been deleted on my samsung

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

now do you have email accounts in your samsung? (just to confirm)

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

(or was it your only email account?)

Customer:

Yes I have one other which appears to be fine.

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

ok, let's add your hotmail

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

is there an option like "add" or "add account" ?

Customer:

yes

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

can you press it

Customer:

yes

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

what does it ask you? is it asking your to select either pop or imap?

Customer:

no it is prompting me for the mail account name and password

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

ok, please enter your hotmail address carefully

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

and enter your password

Customer:

XXXXX XXXXXnell :

Customer:

It now says. My account is set up and it is loading my messages.

XXXXX XXXXXnell :
