I've been asked to verify my email Outlook account. But the mobile phone number they've quoted for me is not the correct one. When I tried to answer the subsequent questionnaire I was asked for my X Credit Card Number but I never have had such a card at all! Also the security question was one I had never been asked for before! It seemed that this security question is in connection with another account which is not mine but is being confused with mine! Please help me!

What microsoft will do in this case is attempt to confirm you are who you say you are. Ideally you should always have recovery methods such as a phone number or an alternate email account attached to your main account so you can confirm your identity however your account does not have these so what needs to be done now is you must fill out a special form to confirm you are you say.

I understand you have already done this but it sounds like it was not done correctly so I am going to provide you with some guidance on getting this done. Please understand at this point filling out this questionnaire is your only option of getting back into the account since you do not have access to any other recovery options so it is important it get's done correctly.

Here is what you need to do.

Please go to the windows live/hotmail recovery form
https://account.live.com/acsr/

First enter your hotmail address and another email address that you currently have access to

Next click on Continue.

***Important: You must provide an email address that you can access or else it will not work***

Next you will need to provide as much information about your account as you can. Be as thorough as you can. You want to avoid random guesses, you only want to provide correct information so fill in what you can. Do not make random guesses just for the purposes of filling in the entire form, leave blank. So for example if it asks you to type in 4 email addresses you email regularly and you only know 2 for sure, only enter 2.

Do not answer any questions under the Billing information section unless you have had a credit card on file at one time otherwise the form will not submit.

Also the form will not submit if you take too long filling it out so try and complete the form as quickly as you can.

The reason you are providing this information is so the hotmail representative can test your knowledge of this account by verifying things only the account owner would know.

Once submitted you should receive a message saying that you should hear back in 24 hours or so.

If the information you provided them was enough to verify you are the owner you will receive another email with a link to reset your password XXXXX get back into the account.

Microsoft/Hotmail takes account security very serious which is why they make this so difficult and make you confirm all of that information. It is to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
