Resolved Question:

We can access our email through bt.com and have managed to change the password. Microsoft Mail will not recognise the email address so we are unable to access email through Windows.

As I understand your question, you are able to login and access your email through Bt.com, but you get an error when trying to get your email in Windows Mail?

Customer:

Yes it does not recognise the email address. We can only access email through bt.com

HunterOwens :

Were you previously able to access your email through Windows Mail?

Customer:

Yes in Windows Vista but we have just set up on this new Computer with Windows 8.

HunterOwens :

Thanks. The main problem here is that the standard email client included with Windows 8 isn't compatible with BT.com email. You can either install Windows Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer so that you can access your email without needing to go through the browser though.

HunterOwens :

I can either give you instructions in the chat or remotely connect to your computer and help you install Windows Live Mail.

Customer:

If I go for Windows Live mail does it mean I will have to change our account? Will it cost extra?

HunterOwens :

No, you will keep your same BT.com email account and there is no additional charge.

Customer:

Okay I will try the Windows LiveMail.

HunterOwens :

Would you like help with that remotely or not?

Customer:

Yes please

1. Click here to load the remote connection page in a new window.
2. On the page that appears, click Launch GoToAssist.
3. When asked “Do you want to run this software?” click YES.
4. When asked "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Click YES.
5. Click on the orange circle icon in the taskbar along the bottom of your screen and click "YES" in the pop-up that asks “Do you want to join the session?”

There's one more pop-up window. If you go to Desktop mode and click on the orange circle icon in your taskbar you will see it.
