Hi, I use Thunderbird as my email program. Suddenly I get

Hi, I use Thunderbird as my email program.
Suddenly I get a message saying something like " failed to connect, server does not recognise....". So I closed my current acccount and tried to set up a new one but I cannot get past the "Enter password" stage. Help!
