My Canon Pixma MP260 is giving me messages 'printer

Resolved Question:

Hello
My Canon Pixma MP260 is giving me messages 'printer not responding' when I try to print photos. It is working normally for text. I am using the correct cartridges i.e. Canon CL510 and CL511, together with Canon photopaper. Can you advise please.

And has it worked before? If so, when did it stop working?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Sorry, yes I have always used this method. Not sure how long it has stopped working, but at a guess about 3 months.

Thanks

Do you get the same problem? Please let me know
I can see you are a first time user to the site. What we do here is either a question and answer type of conversation or remote support where I would actually connect to the computer and have a look and fix the issue if possible.
Remote support can save a lot of time if you are not comfortable performing repairs yourself.
I will send an offer through for remote support and should you accept I will connect and see what is going on and fix the issue. Otherwise we can continue to talk like this but I will need to ask a number of other questions and try and walk you through some steps for repair.
Both options are 100% guaranteed by the way. Remote is just quicker and avoids the risk of you making a mistake and doing something wrong.
If you want remote click get extra help. If not simply reply to me.
Thanks,
Richard

Can you give a little more detail on what you mean with Nothing?
On which step of my instructions did Nothing happen?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Well, I pressed Start and typed in MSpaint then I tried a photo and no response again.

Thanks
Click the Start button , and then click Control Panel.
In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.
Under Hardware and Sound, click Use a printer.
Let this complete and then try to print.
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have tried all this and it is still not responding. There is a 'copy' printer ndin the Hardware and sound. The system was telling me that the Canon printer was not the default and so it fixed the problem, but I am still getting printer not responding. Because there is a 'copy' which I have tried to get rid of before - Do you think this is the problem?

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
It will be if its still there.
If you right click the copy and remove it, does it get removed?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I went into Devices and Printers and nothing shows up. I tried adding a printer and the system is telling me it has added another copy (2) printer. I still cannot print.

I think I will use your remote support if you can do this for me.

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, Please respond to the remote support and I can see exactly what is happening Avril

Sorry this is taking so long - had someone at the door. I have gone into your list but do not get the options you list. I will try again

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have gone into devices and printers and clicked the printer as default. However, I am still getting no response and I am unable to remove the copy printers. I am going to shut down my computer and try again.

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, do that then let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi again

I went into Devices and printers and removed the 2 'copies', a second copy had appeared. I then closed down computer and tried again, there remained a copy again,so I repeated the the action and deleted all. I switched on again and reinstalled the printer, then to be on the safe side I closed down again. SUCCESS - It is all in working order now.

I am sorry to have taken up so much of your time and thankyou.
