Good evening. I am experiencing problems with my email, it is VERY slow to open and even close down. It keeps giving me the message not responding and then I have to wait ages for it to 'catch up'. Can you help me please?

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my emails. I am a bit puzzled you should ask this as I thought I was dealing with Thunderbird. I use internet explorer 11.
