Hello Rod! Thank you for your question. I am a licensed computer / tablet professional with over ten years of experience, and I will be assisting you today.

I'm sorry about the issue. What email do you use, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, etc.?

Are you still able to send email messages fine? (If you send an email message to someone now, then call that person to confirm if he/she receives it.)

Please reply at the box below. Thank you.

Hi there
Please excuse bit I am pretty computer iliiterate.
Where do I find that info re email .myoutgoing mail server is
SMTP.orangehome.co.uk
As to sending an email I sent one to my son and another to my sister and they replied to both ok but I have had no commercial ones in which I normally get!?
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.
Thank you. Are you still able to sign in and use your email at the Orange website below:

http://email.orange.co.uk

Please reply at the box below. Thank you.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just got on it it shows 11374 messages of which 11374 are unread!
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.

Great. While working on this issue, if you need to, you can read your emails at the Orange website temporarily.

Let's try the following on the iPhone or iPad (try only on one device to see if it works first):

- Please go to Settings > Mail Contacts Calendars, then tap on your email account, and delete account for now
, then go to Settings > Mail Contacts Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add Mail Account,
, then use these settings:

  • Email server: POP3
  • POP server (incoming): pop.orangehome.co.uk
  • POP incoming port: 110
  • Use secure connection (Secure Sockets Layer or SSL): no
  • SMTP server (outgoing): smtp.orangehome.co.uk
  • Outgoing SMTP port: 587
  • Use secure connection (Secure Sockets Layer or SSL): no
  • My server requires authentication: yes
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: your full email address.
  • Password: your email password (it is case-sensitive.)

, then see if your email works or not.

Please let me know. Thank you.

Not working it went to verifying and then said to check incoming server address
The new account page has only the following
Name
Email
Description
INCOMING MAIL SERVER
Host name
User name
Password
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Host name User name. Password. ( no more than that) Rod
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.

You should also see the option IMAP and POP. Please select the option POP.

Did you enter the settings I've provided previously:

Name: Your name
Email: Your full email address
Description

INCOMING MAIL SERVER
Host name: pop.orangehome.co.uk
User name: Your full email address
Password: Your email password (it is case-sensitive.)

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
User name: Your full email address
Password: Your email password (it is case-sensitive.)

Please let me know. Thank you.

Cannot connect using SSL

Yes or No?!?!
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.
Per the settings (Use secure connection (Secure Sockets Layer or SSL): no) in my previous reply, please select Yes (without SSL). Please let me know. Thank you.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Put yes in as requested it has now come back with
The IMAP server pop.orangehome.co.uk is not responding.check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field
Over to you
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.

I'm sorry. You should also see the options IMAP and POP. Per my previous suggestion, please select the option POP (not the option IMAP.) Please let me know.

When you are available, please click on the Reply to Expert tab below, and reply back to me, so we can continue. Thank you,

Latest reply aHaving gone back to the beginning and teetered everything as you suggest is-:-
Cannot connect using SSL Do you want to try setting up account without SSL
Yes. Or. No
Over to you again
Just one thought , could it be that I have to set or reset this account on my iPad rather than doing it on my iPhone. Rod
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.

You did select the option POP (not IMAP right)?

Again, you select Yes when it asks "Cannot connect using SSL. Do you want to try setting up account without SSL?".

No, just try my steps on the iPhone. Don't try anything on the iPad for now.

Please let me know. Thank you.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Done everything as suggested - it now comes up ( yet again( with
TheSMTP server***@******.*** is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct info in theOutgoing mail server field. Rod
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.

I'm sorry. Are you receiving emails now? Is the issue with sending only now?

It looks like you entered your email address for the Outgoing server host name; that's not correct. Per previous suggestion, did you enter smtp.orangehome.co.uk for the Outgoing server host name?

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER

  • SMTP server (outgoing): smtp.orangehome.co.uk
  • Outgoing SMTP port: 587
  • Use secure connection (Secure Sockets Layer or SSL): no
  • My server requires authentication: yes
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: your full email address.
  • Password: your email password (it is case-sensitive.)

Please let me know. Thank you.

Are you testing sending emails on the iPhone? Please let me know. Thank you.

Yes
Expert:  Viet - Email Tech replied 1 year ago.

Please do the following on the iPhone:

- Please go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars
, then tap on your orange email account
, then tap on Advanced
, then make sure all these Incoming settings are correct:

  • Email server: POP
  • POP incoming server address / host name: pop.orangehome.co.uk
  • POP incoming / server port: 110
  • Use secure connection (Secure Sockets Layer or SSL): no
  • My server requires authentication: yes
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: your full email address.
  • Password: your email password (it is case-sensitive.)

If needed, please press and hold both the Power (On / Off) button and the Home button (which is located right below the screen) together for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears, then wait a bit, then check.

Please let me know. Thank you.

I'm sorry. It is really strange. Let's try:

Please sign in your email account at the website below:

, then there, go to My Profile: Change details / Change password

, then change your email password

Then go to go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then tap on your orange email account, then update your password ***** Then tap on the smtp primary server, and update your password ***** also

, then see if you can receive emails on the iPhone.

Please let me know. Thank you.
