Customer Question

my team manager job title was made redundant and I was moved into the warehouse as an operative , but my wages couldn't be droped so they have stayed the same ,but now they have a new warehouse manager and they are saying that if I don't accept deputy manager position just because I get paid at a higher rate than the other warehouse operatives it could result in me loosing my job , are they right to do this?
