67 yr old male, 173cm 116kg, living alone Active offshore racing sailor alternate weekends - last 10 years Archery midweek and other weekends - last 3 years Swimming 32 x25m breaststroke twice a week - last 5 years Personal trainer gym 1 hour per week (down from 2) - last 12 months Taking a long time to recover from exercise (hence gym now only weekly) Not very successful Weightwatchers (well within daily pro points) Generally "depressed", struggle to control comfort eating, lack of "energy" / motivation Hypothyroidism ? Symptoms: weight, tiredness, brittle nails, depression, muscle aches, insomnia / sleep apnoea, carpal tunnels (operation 10 yrs), soles of feet, libido (age ?) No constipation, no noticeable dry skin, not particularly sensitive to cold. Acute Neuphritis (age 5), appendix (age 45), hypertension (controlled), chloesterol (controlled) Annual "bloods" "normal" Daughter has under/inactive thyroid., which took a long time to diagnose; (TSH normal ?) Should I seek more detailed thyroid tests ? DJ
