A Core Assessment is an in depth assessment that should help determine the level of a
child’s needs, their parents’ ability to meet those needs and the impact of family and
environmental factors on the child.

The social worker will interview parents and liaise will any professional involved with the child to get their input eg teacher, health visitor. The social worker will then analyse all the information and come to a conclusion about what woudl be best for that child.
