Customer Question

Hi,

I have two children who live with their mother. We have been separated for over two years. She has stopped me seeing the children of the last 3 months without a court order. I have had very minimal replies of emails from her also. I have recently moved in to my girlfriends house and my ex wife is asking for the address, My partner has asked that I don't give this address to my ex wife as we feel she is unstable and we do not want any problems at the door so to speak. My ex wife is demanding she has the address or I will not be able to see the children! Can you help?

Hi
Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare
I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
How old are the children and has your ex made any threats against your new partner?

Hi,

My son is 5 and my Daughter turns 5 at the end of the month. My ex partner has made inappropriate comments of me and my current partner on social media and email. The children live with my ex partner in Devon and I now live in London with my current partner. My ex partner gives me no notice of when I can and cannot see the children. When my current partner came to meet the children for the first time with me my ex partner was rude to my current partner in front of the children. I fear that my ex partner has started drinking as comments about me are going on social media and I receive demoralising messages from her. I feel I am being mentally abused and I do not want my ex partner to contact me at my current partners home. I have been told by my ex partner if I do not give her my current partners home address then I am not allowed communication or contact with the children.

Hi
What contact did you used to have with the children and what contact are you asking for?
Clare

I used to see the children every other weekend, sometimes this would change due to work commitments. I have asked to see them as per every other weekend but I have had no reply. I have asked to Skype the children and I have also not had any reply. My ex partner has asked for current partners address and if I do not give it to her I will not be allowed any contact with the children. Do I have to give my ex partner my current partners address if the children were to stay with me and my current partner?

Hi
Have you asked for visiting contact (not overnight) in Devon - and has this been refused as well?
Clare

this has also been refused.

Hi
If you wish to have over night contact then yes you will have to give your ex the address at which the children will be staying
The law says that children are entitled to have contact with both parents and the courts will enforce this of necessary
Alternate weekend contact and weekly Skype calls would not be unreasonable
You should offer to discuss matters with your ex using Family mediation (www.familymediationhelpline.co.uk) but if that fails then you may have to apply to the court for a defined contact order

I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
