Customer Question

I am looking into establishing a prenuptial agreement before I marry my partner. I want to protect my assets for the worst case scenario. Can you advise me on the process? Do the documents get mailed to my home address for my partner and I to sign?

Hi
Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare and I will do my best to help you
The first thing you need to know is that whilst they are more likely to be respected by the Family court in the event of a Divorce than they used to be there is still no guarantee that it will be.
To have the best chance of success you need to ensure these things.
1. You each have face to face advice from a solicitor
2. There needs to be full financial disclosure by both parties
3. The agreement is fair to both parties
4. It is signed at least 28 days prior to the marriage
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
