Hi, I have lived with and taken care of my daughter for 10

Customer Question

Hi, I have lived with and taken care of my daughter for 10 yrs, my ex wife is now demanding to see my daughter for half of all school holidays including an extra sunday night, please advise, I asked my daughter what she wanted to do and she is adamant that she wants things to stay the way they are and does not want to spend anymore time away from me, my ex wife is refusing to have any contact with me and expects me to deal with anything to do with my daughter through her husband.
Please help.

Hi
Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare
I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
How old is your daughter and what is the current pattern of contact?

Hi,

My daughter is nearly ten yrs old and has seen her mother on a regular every other weekend basis for around 3 yrs, and she stays with her mother for one night in the week that she does not have her that weekend. she takes her on holiday at least once a year which I have never objected to. Prior to this she saw my daughter every weekend when my daughter was 2, I was ignorant of my parental rights and requested a change to alternate weekends.

Thank you

Hi
Why do you object to her having extra time in the school holidays?
What would be the problem in extending the weekend contact to end on Monday morning?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Firstly my daughter does not want this change, secondly she has a life and friends in and around her home, her mother walked out on both of us the day after Eadie's first birthday.

Hi
How far apart do you and her mother live?

Hi
So in fact driving to school from her mother's on a Monday morning would be unrealistic?
Clare

Yes I imagine along a busy A12 at rush hour it would be concerning to say the least.

Expert:  Clare replied 2 years ago.
Hi
Best guess on how long it would take realistically

Hi
I appreciate that - but is that the time it will take in Monday morning traffic to get her to school for 9.
This is important as it goes to the practicalities of the suggestion
I can get to a local city hospital in 30 minutes on a Sunday evening - but it takes 90 minutes in the Monday morning commute - that kind of difference can make a telling piece of evidence
