Hi, I will be going through a divorce soon and wanted to

Resolved Question:

Hi,
I will be going through a divorce soon and wanted to know if I am entitled to any money from a part mortgage part rent property I lived in for 2.5 years (married to my partner for 1 year of that). The property is in my partners name. The rent and mortgage was paid for by her but all other bills & costs were paid for by me.
Thank you

Hi
Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare
I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
How much is the house worth and how much is outstanding on the mortgage?
What other assets are there and are there any children involved?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

OK Thank you.

There are no children involved.

The property was valued at £146,000 when we purchased it and we had a £39,000 mortgage. Basically a 25% share. I believe there is around £35,000 left on the mortgage roughly. But unfortunately the property is not in my name, so I am not sure how much more I can find out.

Hi
Why is the property in her sole name?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

At the time we purchased it I was unable to get on the mortgage. I was due to be added on this year....but things have not worked out.

HI
Could you look on Zoopla or Right move?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I would say around £160,000 - £170,000 on Zoopla.

Hi
Yes you do have a claim on the former matrimonial home - but from what you have said it is likely that in the event of a sale the equity would be £5,000 at most so it is important that you do not spend too much on the fight to get it.
Instead try negotiating a settlement with her using Family mediation

I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
