My wife [79] is to be sent into a care home, from hospital.

Customer Question

My wife [79] is to be sent into a care home, from hospital. I have cared for her for the last 6/7 years, and can again. Am I able veto this as her next of kin?

Hi
What other support do you have in your care of your wife
Does your wife still have mental capacity?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Up till now we have had daily carers, and yes she is quite "with it", but being a stroke victim does have some speech difficulty framing and remembering words

Hi
Does she wish to return home?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Most assuredly

Hi
Does your wife now need 24 hour medical care?
Do you have any family support?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Not medical care, I dispense the pills etc, just need help with washing etc, given by professional helpers/carers, but not family. Thanks for your help, but visiting time beckons

Hi
That is fine - when you are back could you tell me what reason has been given for your wife being moved to a Care Home?
Clare
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

They say the strain/stress on me would be too great, but with the correctly trained carer staff there is no strain. [She has ballooned up to 120kg since being in hospital from 106kg in imperial that's 3=stone up]

but she is now just beginning to lose some, she was incontinent but thar also has improved greatly.
