My ex has received ppi claim. The child maintenance is calculated

Resolved Question:

My ex has received ppi claim. The child maintenance is calculated as a percentage of his income. Will this ppi payout count as income

Hello

Thank you for your question.

The normal 6 step process for child maintenace is only based on income.

You can ask the CMS to look at certain types of the paying parent's income that are not included in the main rules they use to work out child maintenance - this would have to be over £2,500.00 per year. A PPI payout is therefore unlikely to be considered as income.

Kind Regards

Caroline
