I have a 2002 ford focus diesel saloon with 100000 miles on the clock . This morning while driving the ignition warning light came on and at the same time the steering became extremely difficult as if the power steering had stopped functioning. Can you advise me as to the likely problem is and whether or not the repair is likely to be expensive.

Hi there ,good afternoon

Ok the fault will lie with the accessory drive Belt
This belt runs the alternator and the power steering pump
The belt has most likely failed /snapped due to age
Thus the reason the battery light is in and the steering heavy
