my engine management light has come on. it is a 2002 LX 1.6 Automatic, what could be the cause and what will be the solution?

The first thing you need to do is have the car connect to a suitable scan tool and read what code has been stored.

Mark :

There are 100's of possible codes so trying to guess which is causing your problem is near impossible.

Mark :

When any code is detected it will bring the light on.

Mark :

Once you know what the code is you can then check the system to find what has caused it.

Mark :

It could be a faulty component, faulty wiring or a mechanical fault.

You can buy a cheap scan tool for about £20.

unfortunatey i'm not mechanicaly minded. think the best option for me is a visit to the mechanic
