Hello

if you have a cracked head or block then the water / coolant will find its way through and mix with the oil

however before condemning the castings
Another very likely source is the oil cooler as this is a water cooled element known as a 'modine' and looks something like this
//f01.justanswer.com/ref/https_encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcSIHJLhFb7-aILpHDUk-DhbDNyLqt99gsSreuFcgsj-v8gBrBjqJA

they can corrode internally and so allow water and oil to mix

so check this over next by pressure testing the unit

if you don't have one of these then it must be a cracked casting
and I'd suggest using a bottle of this to try and make a repair as it often yields good results
