59 reg mk 4 2.0 litre petrol. it has a very irritating lag/hesitation

Customer Question

59 reg mk 4 2.0 litre petrol. it has a very irritating lag/hesitation issue when pulling away in 1st which means I have to rev hard through the drop in revs to pull away quickly. Revs can also surge a little when crawling in 1st gear. I've seen throttle body mentioned - any ideas?

Hi there ,good afternoon to you and sorry for the delayed response Ok I have came across this issue a few times on the 2.0duratec-HE engine The symptoms include ,weak pull away ,delayed throttle response on pull away amongst a few others (not a missfire ) The first thing that should be done is to have the PCM updated to the latest calibration /software level using fords ids software and then have the KAM reset (Keep Alive Memory ) There was a calibration released a few years ago to combat these hesitation concernsThis can only be done through fords ids diagnostic software If you need anymore help or advice on this issue please let me know If you are Completely satisfied with my answer /advice PLEASE RATE MY ANSWER Kind regards ***** ***** and have a nice day Brian
