Resolved Question:

Hi Mike,
I have a 2010 Fiesta Zetec 1242cc petrol engine with under 10,000 miles on the clock - runs very nicely except the speedo has just stopped working completely and the rev counter seems very erratic (idles now at 2100) - any thoughts before I take it to a garage?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi there good morning to you and sorry for the delayed response
Ok the most common cause of your issue is an internal fault within the cluster itself I have seen this a few times over the last few years
The first thing to do is dissconnect the battety for 10-15!minutrs to see if the system will reset itself (this usally works )
If the fault persists then the fault will lie internal of the cluster
If you need anymore help or advice on this issue please let me know

Brian,

Disconnected the battery as suggested - the rev counter seems to have reset itself OK but the speedo still seems dead - any further thoughts?

Hi thanks ***** would try the dissconnection again but leave it a little bit longer if you can is:30 minutes then retest the system
Sometimes after resetting the sysyem you need to drive it for 5-10 minutes to wake everything back up
If the fault does persist I would suspect an internal cluster issue

Brian,

Disconnected again for 40mins & took it for a spin. Speedo is still dead - although I see it is 'trying' to move. Any final thoughts before I head on over to a garage?

Hi Paul thanks
Ok if it is trying to move this rules out input signals from the abs module and indicates the fault is internal of the cluster
