My ford mondeo zetec turbo diesel car was low in coolant and the meter showed it overheated however no warning light now the fan is running for a few minutes when i switch engine off what could be problem.

Hello

Low coolant can result in the coolant temperature sensor being damaged
so as its signal is used by the ECU to switch the fan relay then I suspect that this sensor will need replacing
