How long can it take for this to dry out and is it ok to drive the car

Hi there thanks
Ok the most common occurance when a vehicle drives through a large puddle is that the water is sucked into the engine through the air filter
The water is then compressed instead of air as it has no where to go inside the cylinder this causes engine damage (as you cannot compress water )
combined with rough idle /poor performance
Due to poor compression
In some cases the engine damage is u repayable and in other cases you can get away with it
The first thing to check is if the spark plugs as yours is a petrol if water enters the spark plug area it can cause the spark to arc with the water giving a missfire concern
Also check the coil pack for any water ingress
If there is no water in the spark plug area or coil pack area
The next check is The air filter if the filter is soaking wet this lets you know water has entered the combustion chamber (engine )
Replace the air filter and see how the vehicle runs over a short period
If you still have a missfire at idle /driving you have most likely caused engine damage (if water has entered the engine )
