I have a 2 litre diesel estate ghia on 04 plate, this morning the engine lost power and the temperature gauge stopped working. I restarted the engine and everything appeared to be back to normal.

Ok did the glow plug warming light flash when you lost power

Ok your fault lies with a faulty CHT (cylinder head temperature sensor )
This is a crush fit sensor and is screwed into te passenger side of the cylinder head
This causes a limp home mode /lack of power comibinded with no temp gauge
