Hi there Barrie good morning to you
Ok the engine service required message is an engine management /system fault
This has nothing to do with the battery and indicates a fault within the engine management system
Ie : a DPF issue ,fuelling issue or a sensor not operating correctly
The first thing that must be done is to have a diagnostic fault code check carried out using fords ids software
(this issue is covered under your 3 year /60,000 miles warranty )
So I would advise taking it to your nearest ford dealer to have this issue resolved
The Newer engine magement systems are very complex and technical thus the importance if the correct fault code when carrying out diagnostics
If you need anymore help or advice on this issue Going forward Barrie please let me know

Kind regards ***** ***** and have a nice day
