My Fiesta year 02 has an intemitten problem (EAC) auto choke

Customer Question

My Fiesta year 02 has an intemitten problem (EAC) auto choke I believe! had it on a machine plenty in last 8 years still it flicks in and cuts power, as you'd expect!! would replacing the choke sort it or can it be disconnected.
It clears as soon as I turn engine off and back on, but had to do this 6 times on my 4 hour motorway journey last about to replace but want to pass on to my daughter without the problem or spending even more trying to sort it.

Hi there good morning to you

Ok the EAC fail issue on 2002-2003 fiesta petrol gave us a lot of problems over the years

There are several components and issues which can cause this fault

Ford released a technical bulletin in 2003 to combat this EAC fail

The issue can lie with the following

1, a PCM software issue (MUST be at latest level )

2, the PCM

3, the throttle body

4, the wiring /poor connection or hairline cracks inside the wiring of the connector at the throttle body

5 , the wiring /poor connection or hairline cracks inside of the PCM connector

6, a poor conditioned battety (low voltage on crank can also cause this

You didn't list the parts that have already been replaced

There was a modified software update released for this and must be carried out first before going any further

I have attached a few images of the ford bulletin for your mechanic to look at as this might end up needing a new pcm

If you need anymore help or advice on this issue please let me know and I will do my upmost to assist you

If you are satisfied with my answer /advice

Kindest regards ***** ***** and have a nice day

Any positive feedback/bonuses is kindly appreciated
