I just purchased a ford focus petrol 1.0 ecoboost 6 speed

Resolved Question:

Hi, I just purchased a ford focus petrol 1.0 ecoboost 6 speed (125ps)yesterday from a ford dealer. Its eight months old( ex demonstrator)with 4K miles on the clock. I drove it home( bout 15 miles) and after shutting the engine off/ locking car noticed the engine fan( or a whine from engine at least) kept going for about five minutes. I took it out today for about 8 miles and same thing happened. Is this normal?(starting to get worried as have just spent a fortune on this)

Hi there good Afternoon To you and sorry for the delayed response

My name is ***** ***** I would be happy to assist you today

Ok yes this is normal operation of the Eco boost Varient

It's not uncommon for them to stay on for 20 mins +

As the PCM must see a predefined temperature before it will shut the cooling fan off

The 1.0 Ecoboost runs very hot due the compact size of the 3 cylinder engine (which has the exhaust manifold built inside the cylinder head )

The coolant level should be checked as per course but it will be fine

If you need anymore help or advice on this issue Please let me know and I will do my upmost to assist you

Kindest regards ***** ***** and have a nice evening

Any positive feedback/bonuses is kindly appreciated

Brian

Thanks for the reply. Haven't had a turbo before so was just a bit surprised by how hot it runs. Was just looking for re-assurance so your reply helps a lot. Thanks
