I have a 2005 Ford Cmax that periodically wont start. Turn ignition on and all lights up but when you turn fully to start car nothing, no sound at all and all the lights ramain on. try again umpteen tjmes and suddenly it will start. Battery fine and got a new key. It will probably go a day or so starting fine then it will not start again. Always starts eventually but very frustrating.

Hi Brian
Engine is 1798 cc petrol
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Sorry forgot to put that no flashing lights

Hi there thanks

Ok your issue is caused the instrument cluster (very common on the early c-max and focus 1.6/1.8 petrol varients

The instrument cluster is the main immobiliser component and the keys are programmed to the cluster and paired to the ecu

When you fit the replacement cluster you must have 2 keys available to complete the programming

This can only be done using suitable diagnostic equipment

If you need further help or technical assistance on this issue going forward

please let me know and I will do my upmost to assist you
