I would like to see the 1940 census for New York city to find if XXXXX XXXXX is on it.
He used to live on Amsterdam Ave.
I have no info regarding the sons apart from 1930 census.
Can you give me any info from the birth certificates. George would have been born 1911 & James 1913 (from census records).
If it's any help 1920 census lists them as George W. & James D.
Are you able to give me any info regarding their birth certs?
The 1920 census indicates they each had middle names :- George W. (born 1911) and James D. (born 1913).
I have located the correct George:
Social Security Death Index about George W. King
Name: George W. King
Last Residence: 10034 New York, New York, New York, United States of America Born: 24 May 1910
Died: 8 Apr 1995
Wife on his headstone:
Thankyou for the photos & the info on the 1940 census.
Can you tell me how I can get an image of the actual 1940 census form?
Brendan, There is no message on your latest reply ! John
Many thanks for the 1940 census form & George junior's birth date from the gravestone.
Will you be able to get me a copy of his actual birth certificate?
How do I order the record?
Good morning Brendan,
Would it be possible to find the Marriage Certificate for George & Agnes?
Probably between 1908 & 1910.
He was Presbyterian & she would be Catholic I believe.
I cannot find their marriage certificate but I found George's naturalisation record. It gives the date of marriage and some other interesting information.
Fascinating stuff! It's hard to make out what is on the petition for naturalisation, but is there a copy of why it was turned down?
I have located a slightly clearer copy:
Brendan, I must say you are being very thorough.
I would appreciate a copy of the police report despite the unfortunate circumstances.
You also suggested you might find Agnes on the passenger list. That also would be most useful. John.
I guess I can try Ellis Island for Ships arriving from Dublin in 1904, and look
for an Agnes.
You've been very helpful in answering all my queries.
Thanks again, John
