How do I paraphrase a text?

When working with a particular piece of text that you want to add to your own, there are two ways to go about this. You can take it directly and put it into your own paper and then listing where it came from. This is called "quoting" Taking the same work and putting it in your own words is what is called "paraphrase". In order to paraphrase, you want to rephrase these ideas or information in your own words. To paraphrase you want to use as few words as possible from the original source. Do not change the original meaning of what the text is saying and always be sure to cite what you have worked on to show where the original work is from. Some good examples of how to paraphrase can be found here: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/619/1/

Go ahead and review what you want to include in the essay and look to combine certain words down to a few. Shorten the sentences to using as few words as possible by unnecessary words and phrases such as very, really, as stated above, it is important to note etc. Any adjectives such as “quite,” “very,” “really,” “key,” “unique” . Get rid of redundant words such as "for example", "in my personal opinion". Narrow down what you can to keep it tight and neat. Here is a great source that shows how to narrow down the text to a reasonable amount: http://www.webwritingthatworks.com/HThum2ashort.pdf

Best to sit down and review your materials and pull out the important pieces that are essential in each unit. Write down the specific terms, equations etc and then look to include them in your later scenarios. I am sure there are key terms in each unit that comes up again and again so taking those and including them in an approach to show in various scenarios is key. My suggestion would be to sit down and review past materials, jot down key words to use to include in applying to your last unit essay and then expand from that. As you are writing, keep a list of how many adjectives you have used for instance and see if combining some to shorten the text amount will work. The link I offered above shows what ways in which you can shorten your essay to the right amount of words allowed.

some times i lose motivation to study, how could i motivate my self to study?
Expert:  Michael replied 1 year ago.
I would also suggest having to do various versions of what you are writing and then edit each version so that you get to the amount of text required. Your first version I am sure will be long so then go back and re-read what you have written and see what words can be taken out or possibly combined. Then re-write you essay and see how much lower in text you have been able to create. Professional writers do this in their works and writing an essay is no different. Just take your time with it. Best to write out your first version and then walk away from it and then go back when your mind is clear.

Your motivation to not feel the need to study is quite common so do not feel that you have this problem as many often do. Time management is very important to both your studies and also when you have a career later on in life. Priority in your daily activities is key as there are many apps for example that can help set up your day and help in making your study time easier.
Give yourself the proper amount to time to study and write your essay and also be able to step away for a bit. A clear head will help so decide on your day when you want to study and write and then walk away for a bit and then go back. You will find that just a short break will help.
Sounds like you have got this far in your studies and that I am positive with just some time management that you will succeed!
