the shower is just over one year old and is a Mira Platinum Ceiling Fed - Pumped

This indicates that the controller may have gotten some moisture inside of it. So now it is causing the drain as that will happen if water gets on the circuit board.
The best thing to do is remove the batteries, and eave the battery cover open.
Then place the controller in a paper bag with about 2 cups of uncooked instant rice. and close it up. The rice should wick out the moisture in a few day.This works pretty well, but keep the bag in a warm DRY place and give it until Tuesday, it should be better by then, please let me know how this works for you;-)
