hi some one snapped off the aerial on my honda civic 2004

Customer Question

hi

some one snapped off the aerial on my honda civic 2004 vtech 5 door hatchback.

the screw is threaded in both the base and the stubby aerial

so i purchased an aerial base unit and stubby aerial replacement

i just need some instruction in how to replace it with the existing base.

on the inside directly below the base is a plastic covering. i am stuggling to work out how to remove this to see the detail below the aerial base unit.

i have removed the two plastic circle covers. but the back of the base seems firmly planted against the inner roof.

trying to carefully take this off without breaking it. if i put my fingers into both the holes of the plastic casing, i can feel the reverse plastic clips, i have pulled these free but the reverse of the plastic seems firmly planted against the inner roof.

any ideas?

is it also quite straight forward to replace the base once i can get the plastic covering off?

Ok that plastic piece pops off have you tried to remove it?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

yes

it seems very stuck on. the front bit comes away, and i've unhooked the clips from inside the holes.

but the center of the back seems firmly rooted

i could put more force on it. but worried i may break it.

do you think a little more force should help pop it off?

Expert:  Tom replied 3 years ago.
Yes push it in the the back and use a little more force should come down these can be stubborn. Remember that I'm here if you need need any further assistance just let me know it will be for no further charge. hi

i still cannot get the plastic off. its very tight. feels like its stuck on something, or attached somehow.

is the technique really just to pull it off?

would it help to video the attempt to take it off and send it to you?

Expert:  Tom replied 3 years ago.

hi there

so i managed to get it off.

it turned out there was 2 screws holding the mount in place. i managed to unscrew these and the part came off. then changed the aerial out ok.

so the answer wasnt quite what i needed.

however could you do us a favour.

can you give me a good estimate on how much I could sell the car for:

Price estimate for this point in time:

(i) private buyer = £

(ii) trade in price =£

Price estimate for Feb 2014:

(i) private buyer = £

(ii) trade in price = £

Based on the details below:

Honda Civic 5 Door Hatchback

VTEC Executive model

2004 plate

Under 50K miles

Missing 2 years service history

Scuffs to the rims

Good condition but some wear and tear

And also where i can get a replacement service book from?

I will then send accross the £14 that is sitting in my account.

hope that is ok.

thanks
