Hi. Intermittent fault but happening more often. Driving along

Hi. Intermittent fault but happening more often. Driving along and rev counter stops working. Radio switches itself off. Temp gage goes to max. Abs light comes on. Car stopped after this then won't start. Just a click. Needs to be bumped started. Hyundai coupe 55 plate. Any ideas? Richard

Hi .

This is a bad alternator voltage regulator malfunctioning .
Do a alternator output test with the engine running should have
14+/-0.6volts , you may have to do a running test as it maybe intermittent .
Check all battery connection and main fuse for corrosion .

This is a tricky one as when we had this issue we could not find the issue until the alternator regulator eventually stopped working.

Do the voltage test and a running test if the voltage is good and when the lights come on check the voltage at the same time if its lower than the 12 volts replace the alternator .first check the battery .
