I have a whining sound from under the bonnet when I press the clutch in all the way, also it seem a little stiff to get it into 3rd & 5th

Hello I'd say that this is a failing clutch release bearing, as these rub against the clutch every time you push the clutch pedaland also keep the gear shift smooth so this will probably last a little while longer but you have to remove the gearbox to replace the release bearing and while you're there you may want to check over / replace the rest of the clutch parts
