2 supplementary work, is it OK to do

Resolved Question:

Hi, For tier 2 supplementary work, is it OK to do freelancing if its in the same profession and level for which the Tier 2 visa is assigned? The problem is that in freelancing, clients request invoice which can only be issued if you run a business or are
self-employed. Is it allowed to be self-employed for the 20 hour supplementary employment? The general perception is that you cannot be self-employed on Tier 2 visa (not sure if its correct). If its not allowed, would it be OK to involve an umbrella company?
Please advise. Thanks.

Hello,
The condition refers to supplementary employment, so self employment is out as it is not the same as employment.
However, if you are employed by an umbrella company to do the same work at the same level as your main work, you are okay to proceed.
Hope this helps
