Can 2 UK citizens living in Singapore, 1 on 2 year contract

Resolved Question:

Can 2 UK citizens living in Singapore, 1 on 2 year contract and 1 on partner visa, return to the UK to get married and then return to singapore to complete contract before returning permanently to the UK? If so, is there a set procedure or fixed amount of time they would need to be in the UK for the marriage?

Hello,
Yes this is possible.
Both persons must first reside for at least 7 days or more in the registration district before they can give notice of intention to marry. The day of arrival in the UK does not count, your 7 days period starts from the second day or the couple's arrival in the UK. You should keep proof of arrival in the UK e.g. Boarding cards and air tickets as your passport will not be stamped at the UK border.
The actual notice is for 28 days.
After the notice expires I.e. After the 28 days notice period, they are free to get married.
So the couple may get married in less than 6 weeks of arrival in the UK and return to Singapore right after the marriage.
Hope this helps
