Hello there Alan..

Mike :

This is MIKE who you dealt with before on your Jaguar..

Mike :

Your Ecu / Ecm is made by Siemens...

Mike :

It should have numbers / ID on it such as 5 Ws- 40280 - C..

Mike :

If you need anything else - just get back to me -

Mike :

Kind Rgds, MIKE.

Customer: Thanks mike I may need to replace mine but wanted to check type, I have been to garage today and my car is running with no faults then if you move the sensor wiring it goes to limp mode so it looks like I have a wiring issue rather than a faulty ECU
Mike :

Hi there Vic -

Mike :

Which sensor ring are you referring to?

Mike :

Are you still with me??

Mike :

Im not receiving any replies from you - it could be a glitch in the chat system - it does happen. I'll give it a couple of mins then if I dont hear from you - I will switch us over into the QA system ( as before ) - we can carry on there then as that works fine ......

the fuel rail sensors appear to be bringing up fault code P0642

Hello again Alan -

Ah right - well I can tell that the wiring loom is very common for such faults- so as well as checking the actual connectors - they need to check the loom. This can be a bit laborious - in that it means stripping the insulation right back to properly check it -

Its worth doing that really as it is a known issue as I say... before going to the Ecm.. but again - one wouldn't replace the Ecm - it would need to be tested first. The companies do charge for testing - usually around the 50£ mark - you may decide its better to send it before stripping the loom - some do.. You can see the dilemma - but it is a thought for you...

Kind Rgds , MIKE..
