Customer Question

what mileage would you recommend before I consider changing timing belts and tensioners on my 2007 XK 4.2 Coupe Current Mileage 83k

hello there's no timing belt on this engine its on a chain so it should last the life of the engine (150k miles) - providing the oil changes are when they should beadmittedly the early V8's did suffer from premature wear but this was resolved from about 2001

Hi Matt,

Thanks for that.................that gives me some peace of mind because most people I have spoken to previously(clearly the wrong people) have suggested the timing chain would need changing circa 75-80k but I suspect they will have assumed it was a belt not a chain.

Regards

Richard
