Customer Question

3.0 DIESEL has developed poor starting after parked overnight from first turn of key starting to prolonged engine turnover before engine starts resulting in clouds of excessive exhaust gases for a short period after starting. After engine starts performance is normal and stopping and starting is normal throughout the day. This problem developed about 7 days ago

Hi Norman

You need to test the glow plug system , the plugs may be working but may now be slow and weak .

There is a lot of work involved checking the glow plug system if you don;t have the right tools and scan tool .

Do the following first thing in the morning .

Switch on the ignition ,don't start.then switch off after 10 seconds ,
do this four times then try and start ,if she fires up a lot easier than before then have the glow plugs replaced .

If still the same, you will need a good scan tool to check the management system.

Do this then get back to me if needed with the reply box below
