Just had both leaf springs changed on my jeep Cherokee 97,

Customer Question

Hi, just had both leaf springs changed on my jeep Cherokee 97, but they seem to sit almost "flat" and no arc. It also feels like the car "hits bottom" with a clock going over a speed bump or similar.
I'd picture them a bit arced, going flatter as there's load/bump but always flattened out. Any idea? Shackles? Absorbers (which are really poor and is next to be changed)? To soft?

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question had not received a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.

I would have the leaf springs double checked to make sure the correct springs were installed and were installed correctly. If there is an issue with the incorrect springs installed this will need corrected. If this is all checked and found o.k. let me know.

Hi Pete,
Pretty sure it's correct leafs. How do you fit leafs incorrect? Pivot shackles?
Yea, still need help. Cheers H

Unfortunately my info isnt showing how these are installed. If they are the correct ones they may be weak being new.I have seen new springs weak before when they are built or cheap brands cause this here.

They shouldnt be flat across they should have somewhat of an arc.

Let me know if you need anything else and feel free to rate my help here or above ( should be a link to click on ) as this is how I receive credit for my time, this can be done at any time and you can still come back here and reply if needed.Your 5 star rating is appreciated

Ok, Will absorbers, if totally gone, or pivot shackles/buses, affect the "flat" appearance do you think?
Expert:  Peter Zavarelli replied 3 months ago.

Usually absorbers wont cause this here. But the shackles can for sure.If there are any issues with the shackles they need replaced.

But if these are o.k. I suspect new weak springs needing replaced again.
