Also, are you using Windows Media Player to play DVDs?

Hi Ronald,

Thank you for writing back. First, the reason for this could be the disc having problems, or the media player that you are using have codec issues or limitations.

Also, please check if the discs that won't play are blu-ray discs, they won't play in regular DVD drives, the drive itself must be a blu-ray compatible drive.

If the discs that won't play are DVDs (not blu-rays), please try to play them using any DVD player that you might have there (not the computer DVD but a DVD player appliance). This is to test if the disc is good. Again, if the disc is labeled blu-ray there, the DVD player that you need should be blu-ray compatible.

If the discs are DVDs (not blu-ray) and they play normally in DVD players, then the problem could be your media player software. This is usually a codec issue because you are using Microsoft media player software.

I then suggest that you download, install and use the global media player called VLC. It plays almost all media types and it is FREE.

Download, install and use it to play your DVD. Load the disc to your drive and wait it to initialize. Go to Start => Computer to locate the DVD drive. Right click on the DVD drive listed there and then click on "Play with VLC media Player".
