Customer Question

We use Windows 7 pro and Gmail on both laptops and desktops. We have a continual problem, particularly when writing an email with (1) The cursor randomly flicking off into the email (or subject, or email address field) (2) Whole paragraphs or sentences self-deleting.

This only seems to happen on the laptops, and we assume that maybe (as we type fast) it's one's thumb (or other finger) brushing the touch pad causing the problem. But we can't see ourselves doing it.

Is there any way that we should adjust the touchpad's sensitivity? We're using a Dell Vostro laptop and a Samsung, and the problem is on both machines.

Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your question today. My name is Jason. I look forward to helping you today.

I see that you have been working on this problem for quite a bit of time.

Once I am in, I will show you how to resolve this problem so you can fix it on the other one as well.

Thanks - unfortunately the app won't run. I'm using Google Chrome.

Expert:  Jason Jones replied 3 years ago.

Please, run it in Internet Explorer instead.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

In IE we get error message: Page won't open

and it's asking whether

http://api.viglink.com is correct.

Expert:  Jason Jones replied 3 years ago.
Thank you.

That means you are going to the wrong page.

In Internet Explorer, go to the following page: http://tinyurl.com/llg2mr3

Thank you.

If that still does not work, please, do the following.

- Please, click the following link, download that file, and run the file: https://secure.join.me/Download.aspx?webdownload=true
- Then download and allow that remote app to run.
- Once it is finished, please, tell me the 9 digit number that appears on the top of your screen.

Thank you.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Well, I followed your instructions, so I'm not sure why it's the wrong page.

Jason, I can see your feedback - you've had really excellent responses to your advice.

But I have to admit that I'm not happy with running files from anonymous sources on my laptop. In addition, this exchange is public.

Surely it wouldn't be too complicated to explain what I should do?

Expert:  Jason Jones replied 3 years ago.

Oh okay.

You are correct, I have had excellent responses to my work.

I have remoted into a few hundred thousand computers, but that is besides the point. I respect your choice not to do so.

The solution is not a single one. It will depend on which drivers you have installed, which add-ons for the mouse you have installed, if any, etc.

Please, follow the instructions on this page and let me know if you have any issues: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&docid=DSN_EFB3FA8537BFDD4DE030030ABD620900

Thank you.

I'll follow that page and report back.

Thank you Richard.

I will be standing by.
