I wish to use the screensaver slide show. but the laptop locks after a short while. How can I stop this

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be assisting you today. Can you tell me what you mean by "locks up"? Does the screen go blank? Does the system freeze? Does it crash?

Wes :

What version of windows are you using?

Customer:

No it just asks me to log in again with my password XXXXX figure

Wes :

okay, what version of windows?

Customer:

Not sure how do I check that?

Wes :

start menu, right click on computer or my computer and hit properties

Customer:

Windows 7

Wes :

okay, go to start>control panel

Wes :

in the upper right where it says view by change to large icons

Wes :

click on personalization then click on screen saver.

Wes :

in the screen saver area where you have the settings for how long it waits, next to that there should be a box that says on resume, display logon screen. Uncheck that box.

Wes :

Then in the box below that click on the link that says "change power settings"

Wes :

when you get to the next window... Balanced is probably selected... to the right of that click on Change Plan Settings

Wes :

Where it says turn off display (under plugged in), change that to never. Also select never for put the computer to sleep. Hit save changes. Once you are back to the screen saver window, hit apply, then hit ok

Wes :

You may want to set the screen saver to < 5 minutes in order to make sure it's working the way you want it to.

Wes :
