Hi I have a laptop where I had to re-install windows 7. I managed

Hi I have a laptop where I had to re-install windows 7. I managed to install all the drivers but the "Network Controller" which shows with a yellow exclamation point in device manager. Looked everywhere but cannot find it. When I go to driver details, it says that nothing is installed.

thanks well it's a hp pavilion dv5, everytime I start it nothing happens, just a black screen

OK it can be a hardware issue but the simple step you can do is as follows


Make sure the HP laptop is completely turned off then disconnect the AC adapter. Remove the battery and press and hold the power button for about 60 seconds. Releases the button do not insert the battery back now plug the adapter back and turn on the computer. See if the problem persists.

i have 2 white lights flashing one above the num lock button and the other one next to caps lock, any idea?

the fan is spinning fine and no beep when starting it

well i cannot see anythin on the screen, how would u do?

Power down the laptop completely and remove the power adapter too.Please check on the bottom of the location for memory bay looks like this

ok now clean the memory slot and memory module contact area.Do not use wet cloth or anything.you only need to blow away the dust from it. you can use air can

once you have done that just insert the 1GB module in the slot carefully.make sure the module is seated correctly in the notch and the locks are in place.

now just put the cover back in then power up the laptop on power adapter and check it

so after changing the slots and trying one module at a time.its giving the same result am i correct

it seems like a hardware issue looks like the display chip or the power section in the motherboard.have you tried connecting the laptop to a external display.if its a display chip issue that wont either work but if its laptop screen issue the external monitor will work

the external does not work I tried VGA and HDMI

So its the motherboard issue which needs detailed checking by a technician.Does that laptop have ATI graphics?

yes

Most of the ATI display shows these kinds of issues so it most likely a display chip issue but cannot grantee until a technician checks it in detail

thats fine I will take it to a repair place

one more thing If I may, everytime I try to connect a usb device to my laptop it is not recognise
