yes I can use it but it will not let me update windows

so I tried the restore function but after some time it tells me that the changes did not take place so no restore took place

Have you tried to update to windows 8.1 (if it has windows 8 right now)?

Tomorrow, please do the following, go to Windows Update, then check for updates, then click on the important update, then uncheck all updates, then check only one update item, then install it, and check. If it's successful, try a couple of more updates (but don't check all at the same time), and check.

- If that does not work, then close all programs, then open the program "Tweaking.com - Windows Repair" on the Desktop screen mode

, then click on the Repair tab at the top

, then click on Open Repairs,

, then click on Select All near the bottom

, then check the box at Restart/Shutdown System When Finished, then click on the option Shutdown System

, then click on Start Repairs

, this can take very long, a couple of hours

, once done it will shut down the computer

, then turn it back on, then check windows update.

Sorry, did you try to back up your files you need, such as documents, photos, etc., to an external USB drive, then use the Reset your PC option:

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

  2. Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.

  3. Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started.

  4. Follow the instructions on the screen. (Select option just remove files if prompted.)

Sorry, so with refresh, did it still tell you that the changes did not take plac...? Something is corrupted in Windows. Please use a USB flash drive (move your data from that USB flash drive to another USB drive as you have to format it), then do the following in your to create a USB recovery media:

  1. Press the same time the two keys Windows and Q.

  2. Type Recovery, and click Acer Recovery Management.
  3. Click Create Factory Default Backup.
  4. Select Copy content from the recovery partition to the recovery drive, and click Next.
  5. Select your USB Flash Drive, and click Next.
  6. Click Create. When asked to delete the recovery partition from your computer, click No.

, then boot the computer with the USB option (usually using F2 key when turning on the computer) , then see if you can reinstall windows.
