Aspire E15 pointer and touchpad suddenly stopped working. Pointer static centre of screen, touchpad clicks but does not operate.
Help would be appreciated

Just run updates and it shows 8.1

Press the windows key + X and choose Control Panel
Then go to System
Go to *****
Go to the + sign in front of Mouse and other pointing devices.
Right-click the device listed below Mouse and other pointing devices and select Uninstall.
Choose OK to confirm removal of the device.
Restart the system. Windows will detect and automatically install the touchpad driver.
Then tell me if it now functions please
Remember, if you have no mouse, use TAB to choose between the options on a screen.

Sorry Richard the machine is now auto updating 26 of 79 can I stop this

Actually this can be the cause.
Let it finish, restart and see if it now works.
