Hi,

I went to Aspers casino for our anniversary and decided to join as a member, they then asked for my ID, I gave them my driving licence and thats when the problem started, after about 20 minutes of waiting, I complained this is ridiculous and some security people came out with the manager and They said the driving licence is a fake and they will now be keeping it, this was in front of many people there. They said they will now keep the driving licence and I should come back tomorrow and pick it up after they have done more checks on it. I insisted I want it and they said its the law and they can keep it.
We left and as we went out I remembered I had the paper part of the licence, I asked them to call the manager and the security guy who was dealing with it. They took the other part and about another 20 minutes later came back and the security guy said here is your licence, I believe its genuine so im giving it back to you but my manager thinks its fake. No apology no nothing, I felt completely humiliated and treated like a criminal. Its spoiled our day and we just came home. Is there anything I can do about this humiliation.

I'm really sorry but there is little you can do about this.

You can obviously complain. Its bad customer services. They might offer you something in compensation.

However, if you went to court its not likely that you would win. The only potential claim you have is in defamation and that is an extremely expensive action to bring.

Also, you would have to show that these comments were made publicly enough to damage your reputation and that does not necessarily mean that those who were closeby would have heard. Further, they would rely on the defence of fair comment and then they only need to show that the comments made were reasonable in the circumstances rather than that they were true.

I'm very sorry but thats your position.
